So, can we agree there needs to be more hours in the day?

It seems my predilection for just rolling through life with a preference for not planning too far ahead has drawbacks. My life has kind of settled into a new normal, whatever that means these days, but I suddenly find myself wishing I was one of those people you see on Instagram with a perfectly planned routine. I shouldn’t moan, as I’m enjoying a backlog of commissions and sales. But I do like a wee moan, haha.

Yes, so recently I was commissioned to paint a mountain from the West Coast of Scotland, as a gift for the Clients partner. However, this was requested to be painted on an Aluminium panel. These were something I’d read about in the JacksonsArt Blog, and was quite curious about. We agreed on a size, and I ordered it online. Delivery arrived and I was finally able to satiate my inquisitiveness.

I hadn’t realised how much I take for granted when putting brush to canvas. Being used to working with a flexible responsive surface, going to solid flat immobile metal was a shock then a steep learning curve then finally a delight. The surface needs no primer, and takes (&holds!) paint eagerly. The Golden Acrylics looked fantastic on it too, with no change needed to my use of them. My biggest change in method was from working on such a perfectly smooth substrate, compared to the fine grain canvas I usually use.

I’m very happy with the whole experience and the Client was very happy too. Always the best outcome. A further comfort is knowing how long this painting will last, given the stability of the Aluminium panel.

I have now moved onto working with my next commission, updates for which will be on my Twitter and Instagram/Facebook pages. Back on a very beautiful bespoke canvas, again from Jacksons Art Supplies.

I have also boxed up one of my earliest paintings, Golden Dance. I must say, it makes me feel a lot less worried knowing my work is safe inside a solid wood box.

Anyway, thanks for reading this and keeping up to date with my work. Stay Safe and look after each other.
